Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has called an end to the term "War On Terror" coming from the Federal Government.

The embarrassingly naive and somewhat psychotic previous Secretary of State hid behind the war on terror as a means to not have Dick Cheney kick her teeth down her throat.

There never was a war on terror, just the war Cheney and the neocon traitors cooked up that had nothing to do with fighting terror, actually. Remember, Osama bin Laden was never brought to Guantanamo Bay, but Dick Cheney got to torture people... Cool, huh?

"I haven't gotten any directive about using it or not using it. It's just not being used," said Clinton during a briefing with reporters aboard her plane to the Hague to attend an international conference on Afghanistan. 

"The administration has stopped using the phrase and I think that speaks for itself," she said at a different point during her trip. "Obviously."

Now terror can be dealt with as the multifaceted problem that it is.

Back to the campaign trail, 2008... Senator Barack Obama was against the Iraq war when all the other Democratic Presdential hopefuls voted for it. He hit Hillary Clinton with that every day. The news and the progressive blogs covered it everyday.

Well what the fuck is going on over there now? Anybody?... Anybody?

"U.S.-backed Iraqi forces swept through a central Baghdad slum Sunday, disarming Sunnis from a government-allied paramilitary group to quell a two-day uprising launched to protest the arrest of their leader.

At least four people were killed and 21 wounded in the two days of fighting between government troops and the Awakening Council in Fadhil, a ramshackle warren of narrow, fetid streets on the east side of the Tigris River where al-Qaida once held sway.

The confrontation in Fadhil could be explosive if it leads to a split between the Shiite-led government and the Awakening Councils, made up of Sunnis who abandoned al-Qaida and joined forces with the Americans to fight the insurgents.

Distrust runs deep between the Shiite-led government and the Awakening Councils, which the U.S. calls Sons of Iraq, because many of them are ex-insurgents. There have been fears that some fighters may return to the insurgency if they feel threatened by the government.

That could undermine U.S. plans to remove all combat troops from Baghdad and other cities by the end of June and end the U.S. combat role in Iraq by September 2010."

Ladies and Gentlemen, we are being played like a Stradivarius violin. The Bush, Jr./Cheney war is going to hang around President Obama's and the Democrat's neck like the hang-man's noose come 2012 unless we have the courage of our convictions and stop worrying about what the Republican Party and FOX News might say.

The American people not only spoke on election day 2008, they agreed with Senator Obama and elected him President to end the war in Iraq. Pay up, Mister President.

As spring tries to bloom across the country the nation is seeing cold, wet, snowy weather cling to the new season and cold river waters spilling over into the streets. The winter does not want to leave us.

Republicans don’t want to leave either. The new President can’t get a word in before GOP spokesman are on television telling us what he just said is the wrong. Don’t let Spring in, they tell us …keep the Winter with us.

Well that is not how nature works. Spring brings hope. We can go outside and breath fresh air. It is time for Republicans to let go. Their time is over. The damage is done and now the repairing and the rebirth begins.

It seems that starting in the 1980s, Americans began to forget if they were poor or not. Credit cards arrived in our mailboxes like holiday greeting cards in December. The old idea of saving for that rainy day or even not spending beyond your means was lost to us.

We didn’t notice that our cost of living increases at work didn’t keep up with the cost of living, because it was supplemented with credit cards.

Now, new credit is nowhere to be found and old credit is a mean series of phone calls and threatening letters and over 30% interest rates. That was the Reagan revolution folks.

So when a Republican gets on TV and say the President Obama is passing a debt onto future generations, just haul off and slap them across the face.

Book of the Week: John Steinbeck’s The Log from the Sea of Cortez. John Steinbeck is a novelist in the midst of a Mickey Rourke-like comeback of sorts. This book is a different take on the man’s writings. It is a travel log of a scientific journey along the coast of California and down into Mexico with biologist Edward F. Ricketts.

When I transplanted myself to Los Angeles, California 10 years ago, I went into the ocean once, up to my knees, and then got lost living and working in L.A.  I now live just two blocks from the sea and it is a mesmerizing experience. As I drive off to work each morning, I head straight for the ocean and turn right. Everyday, every single day the first sight of the ocean takes my breath away. The Log from the Sea of Cortez is an important and fascinating look at the ocean that connects America and Mexico as well as a look at Steinbeck’s work through the prism of non-fiction. We see why he is such an important American writer and more relevant to our times than some of his contemporaries.

It is time for the great State of Pennsylvania to take a stand. If the Republicans want to send Joe the Plumber out into the heartland of Pennsylvania or into the city of Philadelphia to attack the working class, then I expect he may never be heard from again.

Now Ronald Reagan may have convinced Pennsylvanians in the 1980s that they should vote against their own self interest and support the Republican Party's efforts to deconstruction American industry for the good of giant corporate interests, who were going to ship their jobs overseas...and that these same workers should just leave Pennsylvania and go find work down South somewhere, like Texas... but most voters didn't leave. They are still there and Joe the Plumber is walking right into an ass-kicking

It is time for the American workers, to put a stop to the organized crime of the Republican Party.

Let's make Joe the Plumber the new ingredient in scrapple.

Wow! 40 million people watched President Obama's prime time press conference. This must be driving the Republicans and the Pundicans nuts.
