Fascism should more appropriately be called Corporatism because it is a merger of state and corporate power. - Benito Mussolini
I've been away for a few days and the entire country goes to hell in a hand-basket.
I turned the TV to see some dickhead Republican Senator defending, in fact he was giving a noble and patriotic history lesson to the American people, on military /security contractors and why they are good for America.
Then I see some jackass, Republican Congressman Joe Barton from the great State of Texas, APOLOGIZING!!? to BP.
Then I see that snobby-assed motherfucker, Tony Hayward, the CEO of BP proving once again that he doesn't give a shit how much oil is spilling into the Gulf of Mexico as is he races on his yacht. If there was ever a time for pirates...
And it gets worse... There is this little gem from the ass-clown from Connecticut...
From Senator Lieberman (I-CT)... "The federal government would have “absolute power” to shut down the Internet under the terms of a new US Senate bill being pushed by Joe Lieberman, legislation which would hand President Obama a figurative “kill switch” to seize control of the world wide web in response to a Homeland Security directive.
Lieberman has been pushing for government regulation of the Internet for years under the guise of cybersecurity, but this new bill goes even further in handing emergency powers over to the feds which could be used to silence free speech under the pretext of a national emergency."
Let's not kid ourselves, this legislation is not for President Obama or any Democratic President.
We can't escape it my friends, the American people are serfs to the Corporations. All of us who pay taxes and work and drive cars and use credit cards and shop in super markets and malls... we all just work for the man.
Welcome back. I hope your travels were fruitful. It's your last paragraph that for some defines the very reason they act and vote Republican - they've given up and capitulation seems the only recourse. If you're going to work for the corps you may as well play their game. Which does, of course, suck.

How do we get the Republicans out of the Democratic Party?
